Tanja Silvestrini

Tanja Silvestrini (b. 1995) is a performance- and multidisciplinary artist from Holmlia, Oslo. In their praxis they create costumes, characters and alter ego's that blend into, alter and interrupt everyday situations in public and private space. Central topics are play, people and language. The everyday is their material and the body their tool to investigate it. With their works they wish to invite audiences, passersby and participants to explore reality through fictive narratives, and embrace them in the radical freedom of playing. Silvestrini started their art studies at Strykejernet Art School in Oslo (2014-2016) and moved to Finland in the spring 2017 to be the assistant of the Finnish artist Antti Laitinen. They did their BFA of Contemporary Art at the Art Academy of Bergen (2017-2020), and went on exchange to the Art Academy of Helsinki spring 2019, where they returned in the spring 2022 to pursue their MFA of Time & Space Arts.
