Mari Norddahl

Mari Norddahl's work revolves around soft objects, treated as things and as toys, as nothings and beings. The objects follow an organic aesthetic and have a similarity to the corporeal, but with colours and materials that feel foreign to the body. Norddahl's main interests lie in the separation of object and subject and the consciousness of each respectively. Through performances, sculptures and installations, she investigates how we perceive the object in relation to the human body, with an emphasis on the object’s existence as an autonomous entity. She seeks to understand the thing’s perception of the world, if it has its own awareness, or if such a concept merely a projection.
