Elfi Sverdrup

Elfi Sverdrup (b.1958) expresses herself through performance, jewelry and as a vocal performer. She has 8 years of art college, and has been working full time with art since 1977. The latest projects are Sound Jewelry Performances with embedded compositions based on animal, bird, fish sounds and own vocal expression. She has created solo performances by linking her broad artistic experience together with dance and nature. She collaborates with the well known choreographer Sølvi Edvardsen, and has started to develop longer more complex performances where every body "language" is being adopted. Each performance is related to one or several jewelry pieces. Each has a sound composition, its own state of mind and its movements. Sometimes she sings two part harmony with herself. Her vocal background is Norwegian kveding, Sami joik, Inuit and Tuvan throat singing, and own vocal expressions. She has had countless exhibitions and performances in Norway, has been performing in the Norwegian Opera and Ballet, and has been invited to Finland, Iceland, Faroe Islands, Denmark, Sweden, Poland, Montenegro, Turkey, India, Italy, The Netherlands, Croatia, Bosnia, Latvia and Bali, and participated in WORLD ART GAMES in Croatia, Slovakia and Montenegro.
