Performance Art Bergen (PAB) is proud to announce that next year’s PAB open festival will return to its original format within the historic ruins of the decommissioned Bergen Old District Prison. Over the course of the two-day festival a number of performances will be presented in the prison cells and the yard.

Audiences will be able to move from cell to cell, experiencing a diverse program of performance art. The venue possesses a unique atmosphere, having operated as a prison from 1867 until its closure in 1990. Drawing on the site's history, the participating artists will transform the program into a touching experience for the audience. Registration PAB open 2027
Registration for performances by local, national, and international artists is open September 4 at 3:00 PM to September 15th 2026. PAB Open is a non-curated festival that operates on a first-come, first-served basis for registration. It is an accessible festival that provides space for exploring and experimenting with new forms of performance art. We aim to offer a broad program where artists from diverse backgrounds and artistic styles can express themselves freely. Here is: Open Call PAB Open 2027

In addition to the festival itself, a related workshop will be held. Given the prison setting, the workshop theme will be "Freedom of Expression." The workshop will take place leading up to, during, and after the festival.
