Eleni Kolliopoulou
Eleni is a visual & performance artist/ researcher/ educator interested mainly to the intersection between Performativity and Philosophy. Her practice is influenced by avant-garde, experimental practices and in particular Butoh dance and Performance art. Over the years she has developed a special interest in the field of arts and politics, wishing to address challenging phenomena of dysfunctional power distribution, social inequalities, global tensions deriving from post-colonial attitudes often reflecting into inner conflicts within the self. Her last works unfold around the concept and the experience of individual freedom within so-called democratic systems and aim to deconstruct their fallacies. Her work pays much attention to the site-specific dimension of the performance/ installation which she perceives as a live organism in constant modification: a togetherness. When she performs, she enters a psychophysical state of ‘encounter’ with the space, the props, my co-performers and the audience/ participants. Her artistic work strives to bring in surface repressed feelings that reveal our humanity. http://www.elenivisualart.eu
